Dear PAAers,
Due to No Child Left Behind Rules three schools in HISD are facing closure
this year. I am working on creating a meeting to prevent this from
happening. Many groups will be contacted. So far the NAACP and the Green
Party are interested. I hope the members of PAA are too. Please contact me
if you wish to weigh in on this issue at a big meeting.
The NAACP is holding a fund rasining march on Labor Day at 9am starting
from their hqs and want comunity involvement for a small ($25 I think) to
large fee. I hope the PAA will support this march. Fran Gentry, the local
NAACP president is on person to contact but first I hope you'll weigh-in
with your support. Please let this list know that you support PAA
involvement.
KPFT elections are upon us. The Greens decided last night to investigate
hosting a candidates forum with the support of other organizations. I hope
PAA will provide this support. The person to contact is KPFT Elections
Director, Tucker Bradley. She has a committee but can make unilateral
decisions. To this list, please say YEA or nea to the idea of co-hosting
such an event.
