Melinda,
Running interference, again? Wondering but self-satisfied? MSRC has had
plenty of opportunities to fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities and has
chosen otherwise.

Robert,
The only thing that is clear at this time, is that those of us who belong to
the MSRC, have been wondering about when this instrument we worked so hard
on would be sent out for the GM evalutation.
That is a valid concern.
We do not, however need to make assumptions on what motivated our current
chair Jim Stotts. Perhaps we should ask him instead.

Dear all,
I attended that LSB meeting where Management announced the Flashpoint
change. General Manager stated that in the end he and Interim Program
Director made an executive decision and as of today no review of managements
decision processes have challenged by the appropriate Management Review and
Selection Committee (MSRC), I am on that committee and it is currently
chaired by someone who is not interested in having management reviewed at
all...so it doesn't meet.

I have not seen a response yet. Is it because it has to go before the LSB
first? Is there a process that reviews the management decisions, such as a
programming change, and if so, what is that process?
Would it be safe to say that no one component of KPFT is authorized to act
without oversight?
Is therre a means of providing reasonable and appropriate oversight such
that it will insure a review of the legal, moral, and ethical duties of all,
and address any threats to our maintaining the highest standards?
Reviews of this kind are part of the landscape of an organization with
checks and balances. We have seen the corruption of businesses like Enron,
Worldcom, and others where manipulation of information and use of deceit was
used to fool investors and overseers alike. The snake came back to bite the
hands that were using those measuures. Not however before many were damaged.
This is not to imply that anything like this is happening at KPFT. We
can all be reminded of the caution about power, uttered by Lord Acton, in
1878: Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Another view of
this has to do with the one drawn to use and hold power.
It's said that <http://www.quotationspage.com/quote/21121.html> 'power
corrupts', but actually it's more true that power attracts the corruptible.
The sane are usually attracted by other things than power. When they do act,
they think of it as service, which has limits. The tyrant, though, seeks
mastery, for which he is insa- tiable, implacable.
