I got an e-mail from Bob Turney saying the announcement wasn't supposed to
come out UNTIL the PPC sent out some sort of announcement of the
RECOMMENDATION not an ENDORSEMENT. According to Bob, this recommendation is
politics at its finest. Bob felt that any TDP Chair could agree to the PPC
conditions, however, he felt Boyd was in a unique position to get the 2 PPC
Resolutions debated within the convention Rules Committee. I don't know if I
like all of this, Brenda. Supposedly, Boyd had to agree to a list of
conditions, which weren't unreasonable, before the PPC would recommend him
as permanent TDP chair for the 2006-08 term. You should have gotten another
"e" listing the conditions. If you got the "e" let me know what you think of
the PPC action. Thanks.

Kris

Dear Fellow Democrat,

I'm honored to announce that the Progressive Populist Caucus (PPC) Steering
Committee has recommended that all of their members endorse my candidacy for
State Party Chair.

The PPC is a group of rural and urban grassroots activists committed to a
more just society and fostering an environment where democracy, equal
opportunity and equality can thrive. The PPC's work for the Party and our
Democratic candidates is invaluable to our efforts and I greatly appreciate
the support of their Steering Committee.

Stan Merriman, PPC Chair Emeritus, said "Boyd has demonstrated commitment to
reforms of our party that we have been advocating for the past five years,
including some specific reforms he has agreed to undertake immediately. We
mutually agree that rebuilding our party is our first vital task."

Rebuilding our Party requires the ideas and active participation of Texas
Democrats from every corner of the state whose diversity is strengthened by
a common bond - our commitment to a democracy that works for all the people.
Working together, we can...and we will win elections and change the course
of our state and nation.

Your friend & fellow Democrat,
