                        RICHIE CAMPAIGN UPDATE

FORMER SPEAKER PETE LANEY ENDORSES BOYD RICHIE

Yesterday, former Texas House Speaker State Representative Pete Laney
endorsed Boyd Richie for Texas Democratic Chairman. Laney was the
Democratic Speaker of the House for ten years. Speaker Laney is known
for leading the Texas House into a more open and fair era.

Former Speaker Laney joins House Leader St. Rep. Jim Dunnam, Chair of
the Legislative Study Group and immediate past Chair of the Texas Leg.
Black Caucus St. Rep. Garnet Coleman, St. Rep. Rafael Anchia, St. Rep.
Stephen Frost, St. Rep. Chuck Hopson, St. Rep. Jim McReynolds, and St.
Rep. David Farabee.

EARLY INDICATIONS FROM CONVENTIONS ENCOURAGING FOR THE RICHIE CAMPAIGN!
The early anecdotal reports coming in from throughout the state are very
encouraging for the Richie campaign for Democratic State Chair. Though
the official delegate reports won't be available for a while, some
trends are clear.

Boyd's supporters swept conventions in west, central and east Texas. He
had solid support in the Senatorial districts in the Metroplex and the
Houston area while even making a respectable showing in Travis county.

"We have great deal more work to do spreading our message of Democratic
victory through unity, an expanded donor base, better communications and
a stronger grassroots organization throughout Texas." Boyd said. "The
Republican's record of incompetence, indifference and corruption has
created both and opportunity and obligation for Texas Democrats to
continue to win. Together we can and will seize that opportunity and
fulfill that obligation."

"I look forward to seeing the leaders and activists of the Texas
Democratic Party in Ft. Worth in June," Boyd concluded.
