[PAA-Discuss] Kucinich: What Happened to the Soul of the Democratic Party?

In case you haven't visited his web site lately, Dennis Kucinich
continues to speak up on things that matter. Although he's just a
Congressional candidate this year, the issues from his presidential
campaign are still on his web site at http://kucinich.us/ along with
links to his speeches, bills and resolutions of inquiry he has
supported, and more.

One of his recent articles, that I really like, is "What Happened to
the Soul of the Democratic Party?" You can find it at
http://tinyurl.com/zzmxg or on his home page at http://kucinich.us/
-- about 3/4 of the way down the right column. (Only the first part
of the article is there -- click on the "Continued" link to read the
rest.)

Excerpts:
"The Democratic Party is struggling to rediscover its soul. Leading
Congressional Democrats still support the war; still support
corporate-run health care, still support trade without protections
for workers' rights, human rights or the environment. Predictably,
the corporate media which fueled our march to folly in Iraq still
sides with the corporate wing of our party."

He also talks about standing up for values, and how this would
strengthen Democratic candidates if they'd just do it: "Being a
Democrat can no longer entail a laundry list of slightly less harmful
policies than our opponents."

Read it and see what you think.

We need to help him continue to speak out for all of us. We need to
keep him in Congress. He has both a primary opponent and a
Republican opponent, and the main Cleveland newspaper seems to like
both of them and doesn't mind misleading readers about which
candidate really stands up for the people.

I still love Dennis. He stands up for us, and I like standing up for
him and helping him reach out to people, even if he's only running
for Congress, not President.

I just sent him a campaign contribution. I hope you'll consider
doing that, too.

Bill
