Hello Amy,
Can't argue about accountability, nor about the slaughter of Iraqis and Americans.
Can argue about the contents of one paragraph in Miss Cindy's letter - advice not to "work" with Republicans and judging all republicans as murders, liars and crooks.
This link is one of several articles about Leahy's intent to restore Habeas Corpus http://newsbusters.org/node/9033<http://newsbusters.org/node/9033>
It must have been the shirt she wore that said "Peace Mom" that got me confused.
Paul

Dear Paul, et al,
Since yesterday I have been receiving emails from various parties regarding Cindy's letter to Nancy Pelosi and John Conyers about impeachment.
Some of us have a real interest in this issue for many reasons, not the least of which is the fact that our children are fighting and dying in Iraq and Afghanistan. We have read the evidence that has been presented thus far and we have lived with the consequences of what we believe to be lies regarding the lead up to the war. We have been promised and led to believe by these representatives of our citizenry that impeachment, or at the very least, investigations would be made into what the President and his buddies knew in the lead up to war. For Conyers and Pelosi to now turn their backs on us and disregard the promises made to us is a slap in the face, to say the very least.
We want accountability to be sure, and will settle for nothing less than that accountability. When you live with the fact that you have had to bury your son or daughter, or you have to watch, day by day, as your son falls deeper and deeper into depression and self medicating with alcohol or other things, you want accountability. When a mother has to worry day after day whether a phone call from her beloved son or daughter will be the last, or when a mother worries day after day and night after night that her son is going to take his own life because he can't live with the things he has seen and/or done, you must demand accountability. When your family falls completely apart because of lies, you want accountability.
When hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have died because some man who calls himself President wants to go to war and uses what we believe to be lies to accomplish this, you must demand accountability.
Not to mention the fact that this President and his administration have completely trampled our Constitution and have systematically done everything possible to take away rights and freedoms we have always enjoyed and taken for granted.... we must demand accountability.
I have not heard one Democrat say anything about what they are going to do about the Military Commissions act that took away the right of Habeas Corpus. I have not heard one Democratic say one word about our Constitution and the Oath they have taken or are about to take to protect and defend the same. I have not heard or read one single word from any of them about investigations or oversights.
So, until I do, until I see REAL change, I will hold their feet to the fire -- Democrat or Republican, I care not. Wrong is wrong and the law is the law. We cannot pick and choose, but if we do not agree, we can fight for change. Sometimes politics makes strange bedfellows, and we do have to work with people we may not otherwise want to work with or with those who support causes we do not agree with -- as I do on a daily basis.
Oh, and BTW, Cindy is not the self apointed Peace Mom. Many people around the world call her this and gave her this title. She did not choose it.
In peace,
Amy
