"trying to get to warmongers through their children--sounds like a terroristtactic to me."
Of course it's a terrorist tactic. You're SUPPOSED to be terrified of war. In fact, anyone who has actually experienced combat is SUPPOSED to be so revulsed & terrified that the human species SHOULD eventually evolve to the point of rejecting war altogether. In fact, I don't understand why bravado hasn't been bred OUT of our species - maybe because it's reinvented with every generation; maybe because evolution is a hoax, I'm not sure. Every time I listen to veterans beating their chests and showing off their manliness to each other I have my doubts about whether the human race has evolved or DEVOLVED from apes. The apes aren't claiming us.
There is a psychological trick that the parents of soldiers play on themselves - especially the mothers (not all but most).
Regardless of whether she believes the war is just or neccessary or based on lies or whatever, the mother of a soldier will TELL HERSELF that it's neccessary and for the good of the country or the good of humanity. Without this COGNITIVE DISSONANCE defense mechanism, she would literally go crazy with grief the moment her son left home for boot camp. Parents may SAY it's a good & righteous thing the boy is doing, but on the inside they're screaming "No; you're not taking my son away!!!"
That's why it's so natural for us intelligent people to admire Cindy Sheehan - she has rejected the ILLUSION and embraced reality and refuses to accept the politically correct B.S. about a noble cause. People get really angry at her because she is poking holes in the veil of illusion that they choose to wear over their eyes.
Plato said it's a sin to drag someone out of their cave and force them to confront the sunlight.
If that's true, then I choose to be a sinner.
The draft will drag parents out of their caves and show them sunlight.
