Well, we gotta put our "money" somewhere for retirement.
Keep it in paper which is more or less just electronic digits since 
even paper money is used less and less.
Invest in companies through stocks.
Buy land, raise chickens, grow vegetables.
Buy gold and silver.

Convince a skilled group of people to create a separate economy...
