Annise Parker (D) and Ada Edwards (D) have endorsed the propositions and recommend voting FOR ALL of them (A through H). I saw this on a flyer that was distributed at the last Democracy for Houston meeting.
Warm regards,
Ivan Espinosa
P.S. Here is some information from Citizens to Keep Houston Strong PAC. Mayor Bill White (D) supports all of the propositions, as well.
Propositions A-F
The first six ballot issues (A-F) authorize the City to issue bonds allowing for investment of $625 million in capital improvements for Houstons public safety, infrastructure, and quality of life. This bond authorization will require no increase in property taxes, or any other taxes. Bonds enable the City to pay for public safety improvements such as investments in police and fire stations, better radios for our public safety professionals, and a new jail processing facility. Bonds enable the City to pay for streets, drainage, parks, libraries, health clinics, and support for affordable housing. The amount of this bond authorization is less than the amount authorized in 2001 and more than the amounts authorized in 1997 and 1991. If the bond issues do not pass, for some City activities there will be no new capital improvements initiated, which would have disastrous consequences for Houstons growth.
Proposition G
Proposition G lets our airport and water services grow to meet their customer needs and avoids diversion of user fees paid into those systems. Proposition G enables Houston airports to grow while ensuring sufficient revenue is available to fund police and fire protection. Proposition G preserves ALL limitations on water and sewer rates. Proposition G reserves ALL limitations on the growth of property tax revenues.
Proposition H
Proposition H seeks voter approval for a $90 million increase in public safety (police, fire, and EMS), requiring no increase in the property tax rate. Proposition H allows Houston to meet the needs of a rapidly growing city, including increases in the police work force to handle more of our crime hotspots.
