Shane supports Internet companies keeping customers records for 2 years to supposedly be able to track child sex predators. He somehow thinks these companies can do this and still not infringe on our civil liberties. This is bullshit. He takes the side of AG Alberto Gonzales who is as corrupt and evil as he is ineffectual. That tells me everything I need to know about Mr. Sklar. Anybody that sides with Alberto Gonzales on anything is a weasel.

I wouldn't classify Shane Sklar as a Republican on just one issue (especially this one, which according to Guidry is just about requiring Internet companies to maintain records), although he certainly leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, I'd say that even Radnofsky sounds better than him. You can read his position on several issues at http://www.shanesklar.com/issues.php

His Rep. opponent, Ron Paul, doesn't seem to have an "Issues" page on his web site, but you can look around there at http://www.ronpaulforcongress.com

I don't like some of Sklar's positions and he doesn't say much on others, but for some others (like fiscal responsibility and energy policy) he sounds mostly OK. He's extremely vague on a lot of the issues, though, and somewhat scary on ones like gun control (although don't forget that Michael Moore is also a life member of the NRA).

It makes you wonder how someone like Sklar, who seems to be afraid of taking a stand on issues, or of talking about things in the Dem. platform, has any hopes of defeating an incumbent.

Remember that Ron Paul is essentially a libertarian, and used to be a member of the Lib. party. That party, and I believe Paul, too, generally oppose BushCheney Co's meddling in personal privacy issues, but they mostly believe in no govt. regulation of anything. Let big business control everything. Now THAT's scary.

I would have an awfully hard time supporting Ron Paul, no matter what Sklar says or does.

Give your support (money and time) to a good candidate in another race who needs it, like David Van Os or some of the Dems running in other CD's or state rep races.
