[PAA-Discuss] Debate

I would agree that we should end this chapter, Massoud, as it is clear to me
that you seem to think you know everything about me and my method of
communicating and your sarcastic comments are really a bore.

By the way, Massoud, I didn't see YOU at the City Council meeting expressing
your feelings about our First Amendment rights. I would suggest that in the
future you either put up or shut up.

Kris

Look, Massoud, if you want to debate Michael Berry then go right ahead.

Thanks for the permission.

I would be surprised if he would agree to a debate with members of the PAA,
but you can sure try if you want to.

Thanks again for the permission.

I will not debate Berry.

Good to know that, because you are more comfortable expressing yourself
through e-mail and using the "F" word.

My prior message to the group was inflammatory because that's how I was
feeling at the time. I feel your response to my post was apropos given the
tone of my message. I do not feel the issue of freedom of speech is a minor
one, and I know you don't feel that way either.

No is not a minor issue to me, that is why I'm working hard with KPFT radio.
At this political atmosphere it is not enough to acknowledge the problems,
we have to act and move toward the solutions.

Just because I am not willing to debate Michael Berry doesn't mean others
don't want to.

Well, again it is good to know that. Good observation.

I am not going to waste my time trying to reason with someone who already
has his mind made up. Why should I waste my time? I'm already stretched thin
enough. I made my thoughts known to the Houston City Council members and
Mayor White this past Tuesday. Michael Berry chose not to show up which
didn't surprise me one bit. He's a coward, and I think he knows he
overstepped his bounds on this one.

I'm sorry to hear that you've already been "stretched thin enough". And I
agree, you shouldn't waste your time any more on this. You've already
debated Mr. Berry by your last 2 e-mails, and concluded that he is
a"coward". I think you should put this question behind you.

Go ahead and set up a debate if you want to with others who might have the
same level of interest.

Thanks again for the permission.

If you are successful in getting Berry to agree to this then I wish you a
lot of luck in getting through to him.

The idea of debatesis not to get through your opponent. It is for winning
the public opinion. Mr. Berry's problem is not the Highway safety -since
there are hundreds of distracting billboard ads on the side of every road-
These ads have the same effect as a banner on a bridge to a commuter. Mr.
Berry's problem is political. In his show, Mr. Berry made all those people
that participated in the City Hall look like "lunatic" from left. That was
the reason I suggested a debate to show these people are concerned citizens
that have legitimate points and the legal rights to express their views.

I think, this is clear to everyone and we should end this chapter.

Take care.

Massoud

"What would we be debating?"

Well the whole question of "Freeway Blogging" is about the freedom of
speech. But I have to apologize for posting and suggesting a debate with Mr.
Berry to the PAA list. It seems to me there is no interest or readiness from
this group to debate a minor issue like the freedom of speech with people
that are distorting the facts on a daily basis.

My bad!

Massoud
