These are all part of the Occupation Project, aimed at getting enough votes
in Congress to defund the war.
This is a video of some VFP people in Wash state who attempted a citizen's
arrest of Sen. Patty Murray for War Crimes in Iraq (funding an illegal war
etc, etc). http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5177536367412092089*
In Maine this past week, a large group occupied a Rep Tom Allen's office and
refused to leave until he agreed to vote against funding the war. Allen (D)
has done virtually nothing to use his Congressional position to back up his
claim to "support the troops" and be "against the war. He continues to fund
it and promote the war making industries, as well as taking campaign money
from them. One mfso member was among the 13 arrested. 4 refused to post bail
and went to jail. When arraignment time came, all charges had been
withdrawn!
About 8 veterans were willing to risk arrest in Rep. Ed Markey's office in
Medford Massachusetts this week. We occupied the office for 2 days and then
met with Markey last night for 90 minutes. There were about 50 people in all
- vets and supporters from the district and from other districts. It was a
great turnout. The bottom line is that Markey signed the pledge to oppose
the supplemental, the first Congressman to do so with the Occupation
Project. So we view it as a victory!!
