Actually it's a WHOLE BUNCH of bands: http://www.last.fm/event/124162
and very popular with the kids. She thought it would be a great way to get young people involved with the local activism. She was excited to hear bands speaking out and encouraging people to get involved. I praise these bands for speaking out.....Anti-Flag was there last year. Just a venue Randy.......just an excellent venue
Sigh~

The problem with this "war cry" is the assumption that everyone in these movements has the ability and free time to travel to these events so that this band, whoever they are, get a huge, impressive audience and no chance to ask "where is everyone?"
Where is everyone? Lookin for a freakin job. Trying not to spend money on optional expenses like vacation trips to rally in the Capital. Saving our money for the utility bills. And lookin for a job.
This guy who is saying "Yall can sit around & get drunk....what are you actually doing about it?" - I wonder what he or she has actually done about it, aside from increasing their CD sales by playing gigs at rallys. And I wonder what personal experience he or she has that inspires them to assume that we are sitting around getting drunk. I want to tell that person to shut up and try paying for their own cost of living instead of living in their parent's basement.
One reason that the right wingers win so often, why they can lobby their congresspersons with campaign contributions, why they can attend fund-raisers, is that they actually have the magical combination of spare money AND spare time - a combination that isn't so prevalent in the left side of social concerns. AND a combination that leads some people to think that life is good and nothing needs to change except to lower their own taxes.
If we were ALL rich we wouldn't have any need for leftist parties. Apparently your daughter, and that band member, don't know what it's like to struggle to survive. That's great for her, but leaves her, and that band member, with a narrow view.

Interestingly; my daughter called me after the opening band started today with "Give Peace a Chance" and told me the band is saying things to the audience such as...."Y'all can sit around and get drunk and bitch about the state of our country and this administration and yet what are any of you actually doing about it?" and encouraging folks to join organizations. My daughter's call to me was to ask why the organizations I belong to aren't there cuz apparently people don't know where to go to get involved or to join organizations. She was begging me to get down there with flyers. Geezzz...where was all this enthusiam back before burn out? She asked me to please send you all a message and ask you all to at least plan for next year's wharped tour but to please get someone out there today if possible.
I told her I would send you all this message. It's a good sign and I would think the push for Impeachment would be well received.
For Peace Sake,
Margaret
