My notes, taken stealthily while looking like I was working:

"the investors wanted to turn TXU from a 'refusnik' to a leader on global
warming and environmental issues

apparently the "Environmental Councils" of  36 cities were also directly
involved in negotiations

executive compensation will be tied directly to environmental stewardship

it seems this is one case where protests actually made a difference - in
effect, the protests against TXU drove down TXUs stock price making the
buyout possible also a perfect example of Conservatives and Greenies working
together for a better society

NRDC helping set up committee to create programs to promote reductions of
energy use esp w respect to peak load

looks like the investment group is one of those groups who thinks they can
make money by appearing socially responsible, thus attracting new generation
of investors
