I am betting that GW will NOT veto this bill as it is if passed by the
Congress. Scroll down to the part about why we oppose the bill. It is such a
backassward bill; GW will love it! Lee Loe (I sent this to Al Green by fax
today.)

Please listen to the pu b l ic! MoveOn misrepresented things in their poll!
This is a terrible, hurtful bill that gives Bush what he wants. He will not
veto this bill. He knows it is the best he can get and he WILL NOT VETO IT.
Please read why this is a baddddd bill below. Please listen to Us, the
People of the United States of America!!! Lee Loe, Houston
<http://ga3.org/ct/sdLAB5M1bmPY/> United for Peace and Justice (UFPJ), the
national coalition of more than 1,000 communities and peace groups, is
asking you to make one phone call this morning. The Fellowship of
Reconciliation, a member of UFPJ, supports this critical effort.
Today, the House of Representatives will vote on whether or not to give Bush
$100 BILLION to escalate the war and continue the occupation of Iraq. The
vote could go either way, so our calls this morning will make a difference.
Call your Representative right now to ask him or her to stop funding the war
and bring our troops home. If you are not sure who represents you in
Congress, you can find out by clicking here:

Call the Congressional Switchboard toll-free: 888-851-1879 (ask the operator
to connect you to your Representative's office).
Your message is simple:
*
Bring the troops home now;
*
Vote NO on the supplemental (the "Iraq Accountability Act");
*
Support military funding only for the safe withdrawal of the troops.
Here are some of the reasons we oppose the supplemental spending bill --
also known as the "Iraq Accountability Act" -- the House will be voting on:
*
It gives Bush $100 BILLION more for the continued occupation of Iraq and his
escalation of the war.
*
It allows Bush to decide when U.S. troop withdrawal should begin -- possibly
not until Sept. 1, 2008 -- a full 18 months from now.
*
It is silent on the question of attacking Iran. (Language requiring
Congressional authorization for military action against Iran was removed
from the bill.)
*
It allows an unspecified number of troops (10,000? 30,000? 50,000?) to
remain in Iraq indefinitely.
*
It would bring spending on the Iraq war to more than $500 BILLION!
Democratic members of Congress may tell you, "this is the best we can do."
No, this is not the best they can do! The voters of this country didn't
elect a new Congress to give us excuses; we elected them to use their power
to end this war -- to stop the flow of money for war and to set a specific,
short-term timeframe for bringing the troops home.
