[PAA-Discuss] DCCC Tries to Control Texas Senate Race - Cornyn

For a statewide office, it would be best to have a candidate who appeals to
a statewide "audience." I don't see any of the people who have been
mentioned as appealing to that audience. We need someone to run against
Cornyn who has 1) valid creds as being supportive of the troops, and of
their post-service medical care 2) traction with moderates while still being
progressive 3) name recognition statewide. It would help with voters in
general if the candidate rose above simple partisanship and took firm
stances against corruption and government waste.

I like Noriega, but I've mentioned his name to activists and Demos in Austin
and San Antonio, and no one even knew who he was. Lampson barely registers
above that mark, with a delayed and somewhat hazy recognition.

There are rumors coming out of Austin that Lloyd Doggett wants one more stab
at the Senate seat he didn't win in 1984. Supposedly, that was part of his
angst over the funding bill.
