Perhaps it's time to get real serious and occupy their offices like they did
in Dallas at Hutchinsons.it's past time for civil disobedience.

That's been my experience, too.

Perhaps they should be removed from office, along with Cheney & Bush.

Of course, you're right, Lee. I plan to call Clinton, Biden, Dodd, and Obama
to tell them to vote no on the supplemental. (Calling Hutchinson and Cornyn
does no good. They'll just send me more letters about our troops fighting
for democracy in Iraq.)

Also, if there is enough funding in the pipeline, why are soldiers still
without adequate protection? Renee probably has it right; one can never
trust these candidates. But it means to me that we push harder to keep them
on that projectory. Lee L

Feingold means we should redeploy troops to Afghanistan. He said so at the
Johnson-Rayburn Dinner last fall. He's a big fan of the occupation in
Afghanistan.

On KPFT today, Renee Feltz (it sounded like her) was saying that this was a
vote to showcase the anti-war stance of Democrats up for reelection in 2008
(notice that war funders Obama, Clinton, and Biden voted for the
resolution) while leaving them free to "support the troops" by voting for
war funding with no restrictions next week. It will be interesting to
compare the list of those who voted to bring troops home by March 2008 with
a list of those who will vote for funding in order to "support the troops."

I heard an interesting interview on NPR the other day with some DoD official
who said the funding was necessary to buy the troops equipment and vehicles
but when pressed admitted that the military used long-term planning in its
budgets and it already had enough money to pay for the next year or so of
war. (Hmm, where have I heard that before? Oh, yeah. Kucinich said we have
enough in the pipeline to bring troops home and start funding reconstruction
in Iraq.)

29 Dems voted Yea 20 Nay, 2 didn't vote. When Kerry/Boxer/Feingold (?) had a
bill in June 06 to bring the troops home by July1 2007, only 13 Dems voted
Yea (out of a smaller number of Dems). Please note that Feingold is saying,
among other things, that we need to focus on those whose caused 9/11. Hope
he means we should use legal not military means to bring "them" to trial.
