[PAA-Discuss] Mikal's Thoughts on Ron Paul, standing up for our beliefs

Agreed, agreed. A bit of history is lost on that unless you really search
out the proper resources. Some of us cared so much about what was going on
in Central America that we went to live there, as in my case and in the case
of many friends of mine. Many began protesting the work of the School of the
Americas, and fought hard to end funding of the Contras in Nicaragua. There
was so much to fight in the Reagan era--frankly, it was difficult to choose
one arena. The Central American incursions?? James Watt and the EPA? "Star
Wars" --and I don't mean the movie. Reagan's coded language on "states'
rights" while giving speeches in the south--wink, wink?
It was a terrible era. It paved the way for the neocons who have tried to
destroy our nation and our world. But there were many, many activists out
there working on issues, just as we are now.
