[PAA-Discuss] FW: Letter to John Kerry edited

Regardless of "jerkyness" tasing is wrong. The people saying "he deserved
it" are giving carte blanche to the already trigger happy police. This is
totally unacceptable! If 5 cops couldn't calm him down or drag him out of
the room then they shouldn't be cops.

I have some reservations about this situation. Seems to me this Meyer guy
is a total jerk who deliberately talked too long and ignored repeated calls
to surrender the mic. That is one of my pet peeves when someone after a talk
gets up and asks a whole string of questions or just makes a longwinded
statement that no one else in the audience is interested in or wants to
hear. I had an email (can't find it now) that as soon as he was out of
camera range he became very calm and joked with the cops on the way to jail.
Of course the cops overreacted - not an unusual occurrence - and certainly
should not have tasered him, but I think Meyer deliberately attempted to
provoke them and set out to create a disturbance. Kerry offered several
times to try to answer the questions but was not forceful enough - as usual.
That was one of the questions - why did Kerry quit so easy when he had a
good case that he did not lose the election? I don't care to defend the cops
but just think we should not always cry "fascist" and take up for people
like this until all the facts are known. Just my reaction.

I think the more people who write letters like this, the better. And it
would help if they write them from all different backgrounds, different
perspectives, different groups, as long as there is one common
theme--preserving (!) our democracy. In my letter, I said that this incident
confirmed what I had suspected in the 2004 campaign--that he has become just
another spineless politician. Hard to imagine that VVAW leader who spoke so
eloquently so many years ago, lowering himself to the depths of the toy cops
at that university.

      Senator Kerry,

How could you not hear that travesty against our non alienable
      Constitutional Rights?
This is a serious issue. We are declining into a total FASCIST state
now.
I and a whole a whole lot of We The People are very upset about this
event.
If you could not hear him then, Hear him now, INTERVENE on his behalf,
but
more importantly, INTERVENE on behalf of the Constitution! Are you so
wealthy and out of touch with The People that you have lost touch with
the
Constitution? Where are your xxxx? Maybe should grow some. If you had
taken
up for his FIRST AMENDMENT NON ALIENABLE RIGHT to ask a difficult
question
to you, you would have gone high on my respect list. Now, I am very
disappointed in you as an American Senator.
Strive to be more like Andrew Jackson than Woodrow Wilson.

      Appalled and Disgusted,
