                            Dear Aleithia,
It's tax day yet again and here at Peace Action we like to remind you where the Bush administration will spend your hard earned money in the last months of his administration. Under the President's proposal, tax cuts for the richest 10 percent would cost $116.6 billion in Fiscal Year 2009.

According to the latest National Priorities Project publication the Iraq War would receive another $139 billion in Iraq War spending, bringing the total allocated to the war to $745 billion. Peace Action is building on the successes of March 19th to mobilize activists from every community against this occupation. Help us spread our message of peace by spreading the word.

It's not only the occupation that siphons tax dollars away from human needs, as of 2006 we began wasting money in Iran with the passage of the "Iran Freedom Support Act." Recently the GAO uncovered over$40 million in lost or unaccounted for money spent for programs under this act - that's YOUR money. We continue to call for rational and open democratic process that supports the people of Iran and promotes peace between our Nations. Have you told your network about our Iran petition?

Bush also tried to increase the funding for nuclear weapons production by $15 million but our grassroots efforts pressured the Congress to zero out the funding for these new nuclear weapons. Right now, we are pushing our agenda further to completely halt the Bush administrations plan to build a new nuclear weapons plant. Our lobbying efforts have resulted in an extended comment period to the Department of Energy giving you another chance to speak out against the nuclear power brokers. Can you pass this critical information along?

Remember, the only guarantees in life are death and taxes. You can't control death but through grassroots movements and citizen engagement WE CAN change how our taxes are spent. Build our movement by tell your friends to join our email list, visit our blog, or join a local affiliate. Build our strength by commenting your financial support today.

Together, we can build the Peace Majority and make our National budget reflect our priorities!

                            Sincerely,
