When responses to my comments were posted to this list, I often found
them in my spam folder. Weird! I did not put them there.

Who needs Dynomite? This levee couldn't handle a tree root. Greatest
country in the world, and richest!

I read that there were a lot of gun confiscations in New Orleans around
the time of Hurricane Katrina. I also don't like forced evacuations.
That could be a way of the federal government taking over people's
lives. The elderly and disabled would be vulnerable to being forced
into nursing homes in such situations. I also heard on Indymedia that
many people in the Lower Ninth Ward heard explosions around the time
that the levees broke. I also heard on Democracy Now on a show
broadcast during September, 2005 that some people in the power
structure were going to use Katrina to alter the demogr
aphic makeup of
New Orleans. I read that many children were also separated from their
parents when they were put on buses to leave the Superdome.

I beg to differ with you two. Katrina was a successful rehearsal of
Problem-Reaction-Solution...
with Martial law as the solution.....Those scumbags were not inept,
they did this on purpose, they knew what they were doing....They
certainly are immoral.....McCain't is not Bush Lite, he is Bush on
Steroids.....but I'm not keen on Obomba either.....

Lee,
You are correct, as per your norm. This whole Katrina mess is something
we could have
avoided had we had an administration that had been addressing our
infrastructure. You
left out one adjective I would use that also applies.......IMMORAL! It
is immoral to let
human beings suffer as these people did and do NOTHING to help them!
THAT is immoral
as hell. I hope that Moore included footage of Bush and McCain eating
McCain's birthday0D
cake on a tarmac in Arizona the day after the hurricane hit! Instead of
seeing to his duties
that ingrate was partying! I have it on my blog....John McCain is Bush
Lite. What a freak.
I also put a link the web page.

The great Bush failure about Katrina and other such disasters is his
appointment to many significant governmental positions of unqualified
persons and/or those diametrically opposed to the purpose of the
particular
agency or department. This is willful and flagrant neglect and
destruction
of people, animals, flora, and the land of the United States. Rather
un-American and unpatriotic, if you ask me. Lee Loe

In case y'all missed it, there was an interview on Democracy Now! this
morning with two of the film's co-directors and co-producers, Tia
Lessin and
Carl Deal. They also produced Michael Moore's Farenheit 9/11 and
Bowling for
Columbine. I'm glad Danny Glover was involved, too.
Listen to the Dem Now repeat at 6 PM today on KPFT, or in the KPFT
archives
at http://archive.kpft.org or listen/read/view it at

Doc, I'm glad you are OK while you're in Florida this week, and hope
that
the flooding subsides soon so people can start getting back to normal.
I think the Bush administration's many failures re: Katrina are more
than
enough reason to impeach and remove him from office, even without the
lying
and illegal spying and Iraq and trampling all over the Constitution.
What's
the use of having a government when it does worse than nothing during a
hurricane? Is the government supposed to help people, or make things
even
more horrible than they already were?
Melinda is right -- the timing of this film is good, to remind people
about
what government should be about, as the fall el
ections get closer.

>>Over the past week I have been in Daytona and felt the need to build
an
ark. It has rained day and night for the last 5 days and there is much
flooding across the state. It is a bit scary when the lights go out and
the
wind is howling. The worst part is not knowing if all your family is on
high
ground and safe. This is not even close to what the victims of Katrina
experienced and much of the distress was at the hands of the very
government
(local, state and federal) that is supposed to make sure that its
citizens
are safe. It is my prayer that we never allow the felony actions to be
forgotten. The survivors of Katrina are still, in far too many cases,
feeling the affects of something that went very wrong. We the peo
ple
must
stop being so very silent as the very fabric of America is allowed to
erode
or be stolen away by those who have lost sight of brotherhood, the
constitution, and caring for all humanity.
