I missed it over the weekend because I was traveling to the Dallas area to see Cynthia McKinney, but according to Amy Goodman on Democracy Now this morning, Ron Paul announced over the weekend that he will not seek a third party presidential nomination. Many who were hoping he would again seek the Libertarian nomination are disappointed. Since it is extremely unlikely he will win the Republican nomination, this greatly increases the likelihood that Cynthia McKinney will be the last peace candidate standing in 2008. Dennis Kucinich dropped out from the presidential race earlier, in part because big money (AIPAC?) interests were funding rivals for his congressional seat in the Primary, and word is that incumbent Congressman Ron Paul is encountering similar difficulties in his bid for reelection. Cynthia McKinney actually lost her seat due to big money funding of same party rivals in 2006, hence the new word, mckinneyized
Please come see Cynthia McKinney tomorrow, Tuesday, February 12, at 7:00 PM, at the S.H.A.P.E. Center Administrative Building at 3903 Almeda, Houston, TX 77004.
Please disseminate this information far and wide.
