[PAA-Discuss] posting to list when it's personal

Earlier I wrote an response to Jessica that was for her only. She decided
that I meant to the list, which I did not, and she posted it anyway.
That would have been rude if it had not been an accident--so I'm going to
presume it was an accident.
I will repeat part of what I said in ANOTHER personal response to that one.
Yes, I'm fifty years old. Jessica seems to think that I say that as some
badge of honor, like, whoa, I'm fifty years old, I know everything. Well, in
the first place, there are lots of people on this list older than I am, so
that wouldn't mean much. They have way more experience than I have.
What I mean by saying that is this--I'm jaded. I'm fifty years old, and I
don't have the ideals that Jessica has, that many people her age have. I
make decisions based on being jaded, based on being dumped on in the
political sphere over and over again. Of losing, over and over again. I
remember what it was like to be younger and to not have yet faced those
losses.
I wrote to Jessica and I will repeat here--you have your ideals, you will
hate when they are gone. You'll hate the whole losing routine. You will hate
losing more and more of yourself, you will hate losing more and more of
democracy.
That does not make me better than Jessica or anyone her age. In fact, it
makes me 'worse' in many ways. Because I no longer have the ideological room
to vote just my ideals. Get it now?
And no, as an aside, I see no hypocrisy in anything related to Ron Paul.
Huh? That's just illogical. Ron Paul does not satisfy my criteria of 1) the
border wall issue 2)the environment 3) women's rights 4) US diplomatic
involvement in the world situation 5) support for minorities.
Ron Paul is history. Let's move on.
