DO YOU NEED TO PLAN YOUR STUDENT ACTIVISM FOR NEXT YEAR?
Students from all progressive movements in Houston are converging for a one
day campaign planning conference.  What would it look like if all the
student activists in Houston got together, hung out, talked, and came up
with a real plan to TAKE OVER OUR CITY NEXT YEAR?  All progressive activists
welcome--everyone from climate change activists to living wage activists,
from LGBTQ&A to immigrants rights to equal rights to civil rights--I can't
name us all, just know that everyone should be here.  There will be 2
trainings/skill shares, good food, and dedicated time for all student groups
to get a jump on planning their campaigns for next year.  Service Employees
International Union and Change to Win (www.houstonjanitors.org and
www.changetowin.org) are lending us trainers, space, and feeding us, so we
can concentrate on our campaign planning for next year!

SKILL SHARE 1:
CAMPAIGN PLANNING -- How to plan, what to plan, what does a win look like,
tactics versus strategy, and your experiences/lessons learned being a
Houston activist.

SKILL SHARE 2:
TALKING ABOUT YOUR ISSUE TO GROW YOUR GROUP -- ever have someone come once
to a group meeting and not come back?   Ever feel like people zone out when
you start explaining why you're doing the issue work you're doing?  Ever
organize a rally/meeting/event and get less ppl than you wanted?  We'll talk
about our work, (successes and failures) and learn some ways to solve those
problems.

It starts right a 9a, so be on time.  We need a good head count to plan for
space and food, so please call/email CJ Grimes from SEIU and let her know
who's coming from your group:
