Along those lines......I voted for Emmett TIll because this beautifuly young man
never got to grow up because he was murdered. I voted for the children of Medger
Evers who probably will never forget seeing their father shot in front of them on their
front lawn by Byron De LeBeckwith who evaded justice until he was ancient becuase
cowards threw every trial he had to defend him. I voted for the four little girls killed
at the Alabama church by the bomb rigged in their sanctuary. A sanctuary anywhere
including a church is supposed to be a safe place. I did this for Dr. King whose children
missed his presence at every important event after his murder and Coretta Scott King,
whose love for her slain husband served to propell her for others till she died. I voted
for every single slave including Dred Schott who had the courage to fight all the way to
the Supreme Court for his freedom, Virginia Brown for her desire for an education that
was truly equal. I lastly voted for Barbara Jordan a wonderful Houstonian who SHOULD
have been our President but was not because she faced not only racism but bigotry
about her gender as well. I am lucky to have heard her at the 75 Democratic Convention.
I fell honored to be American knowing that I inhabit the land of such brave fellow Americans.
May they never leave our hearts.

I think it's time for some heartwarming stories.

I especially like the first one below, which was read on KPFT by John
Basel during KPFT's Tuesday afternoon election special, and which
brought tears to my eyes when I heard it. Thanks, John, for bringing
it to us.

Both essays are about our future and our children, and how this
election is really about them.

Get out your handkerchiefs.

The comments are also interesting, as a numer of other people did the
same thing as Boyd Reed.

Here's a similar and shorter one by another blogger:

Feel free to forward to your friends who need an uplifting story.
