[PAA-Discuss] How to Buy a Government Bailout Bill

How
are elected representatives convinced to vote for a bailout bill that is
  overwhelmingly opposed by their constituents?

Along with Paulson and Bernanke's scare tactics of markets crashing and
martial law in the US and wiped out retirement funds ON THIS MONDAY, the good
old time tested method of buying votes was used.

Senators voting for the bailout received twice as much money from bailout
benefactors than those who voted against the bailout:

Congress critters who voted for the bailout received 41% more money from the
bailout recipients than the representatives who opposed the bailout:

These are career contributions from the finance, insurance and real estate
industries. The most recent 3Q08 campaign finance reports are due soon
and I'd be surprised if we didn't see a sharp spike in contributions from
these industries in the run-up to the bailout.

Sorry, I know this is hardly a startling revelation. We expect corrupt
politicians, and they hardly ever fail to justify that expectation.
