America's energy crisis is a problem we can't drill our way out of.

Congress is deciding American's energy future this week.

Tell them we need real solutions like clean energy tax credits – not more drilling

Dear Juli,

As we speak, lawmakers in Washington are debating energy policies that will affect your wallet for years to come.

They could help jumpstart our economy by committing to clean energy and good jobs. Or, they could give us more of the same: more record profits for the oil companies, more addiction to oil, and 116,000 lost jobs.

Americans need real solutions, like tax credits for wind, solar, and other energy innovation – not short-sighted schemes to "drill, baby, drill." The vote could be any day now, so please take action today!

Tell Congress you want a clean energy future including clean energy tax credits, not useless drilling.

Here's what the oil lobbyists don't want you to know: opening up protected coastlines to drilling would provide Americans little relief at the pump. In fact, the Department of Energy has said that if we started drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, we'd save only 2 cents a gallon by 2025!

While this myth spreads, Congress is letting our clean energy industry wither. Wind and solar energy are already helping turn our economy around, but these industries are crumbling because Congress hasn't extended the Producti
on and Investment tax credits that built them.

116,000 good, high-paying jobs in the wind, solar, geothermal and biomass industries will be in jeopardy if we don't act now. A decade's worth of progress could go to waste. If you ask me, anyone who'd end those credits is one bit short of a drill set.

Tell Congress to extend the tax credits for wind and solar energy – don't just drill!

Tax credits certainly aren't the whole answer – turning our country's economy around will take a bold new plan, a "New Apollo Program" to invest in green technologies and the new jobs they'll produce. But the legislation moving this week could give us a head start.

Once you've sent your letter, please be sure to tell your friends about this critical vote and ask them to help you drown out the chorus of "drill, baby, drill."

Thank you for taking action,

Phil Angelides
