Houston janitors will hold a convention to kick-off their campaign for a
fair contract to preserve good jobs, health care and fair treatment at the
workplace. 
 
The Contract Convention and March:"Building an Economy that Works for
Everyone" will be held on Saturday, October 10th, 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM, at
the Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel, 2001 Post Oak Blvd., Houston 77056.
There will be a march immediately afterward to demonstrate our commitment to
justice for all workers.  
 
As you remember, the Houston janitors led a historic fight for just wages,
health coverage and respect in the workplace in 2006 after a four-week
strike.  Before the strike, most commercial office janitors in Houston were
paid just $20 a day and had no health insurance or any other benefits.
 
It is important to show support for the Janitors as they begin their fight
once more to ensure that as workers they have good jobs, affordable health
care and respect at the worksite.
 
So let's make an effort to be there at the Convention and join the March
with Houston janitors.
