Is anybody willing to SIT IN at an insurance company in Houston? possibly
get arrested, probably a misdemenor, trespassing on private property...
After sending around the Health Care-NOW.org (HCN) email about call to
action to increase the numbers of in your face protests to keep single payer
on the table, obviously some CodePinks responded to national HCN...
The nat'l ofc just wrote me that ">We've had a lot of people sign up to
participate in a sit-in in Houston for SINGLE PAYER on the table...etc.
We need a team to help pull this together. Is anybody interested in
helping to pull together a sit-in at an insurance company in Houston?
Let me know by Friday 10/2 evening

Anybody want to talk about this? Are you still up? I'd like to talk with a
long timer activist who's BEEN ARRESTED for such action in recent years.

What do you think about the social action of protesting, not just FOR
single payer in public spaces with permits, the rallies, & hoopla, letter
writing, delivering petitions & letters, demonstrating OUTside Congressional
offices and insurance companies to now increasing intensity (out of
frustration) to SIT IN and Getting ARRESTED for single payer.
I've been there, done that. Civil rights, since DrMLK was shot,
involvement in groups & actions against militarism, racism, sexism.
Altho' getting arrested against CLASSISM may be an important arm of the
"civil rights movement of our time", I feel that the majority of Americans,
(the boomers who vote for example & elected the 1st African American
president) will DISDAIN, distort, and dismiss our arrests.
So what if even thousands of us get arrested?
I just don't believe at this point in history that the corporate rulers
will care or be caused distress or loss of business as usual.
Like Senator (Mad) Max Baucus said, "We need more police", and had
security escort out and then arrested even 13 of distinguished docs & nurses.
Arrests costs us $$, down time, derails other positive political awareness
and consensus building, there may be negative personal consequences.
Other than publicity for the cause, and showing our fervor (and
desperation) what political or legislative outcome is achieved?
Reminds me of the Peter Paul & Mary song.... :) Have you now or ever have
been?...
Healthcare NOT Warfare.
Healthcare-NOW!
