Cindy is just scratching the surface on the interface between PIC and the MIC
I found this string rather interesting ....... the Gold recommended song is loud and
frighteningly true ..... the comment , "one behemoth feeding another " <<very good ....
A War Machine fed by Slaves ..... ( I bet there are a lot of complicit Judges .... here
in Texas they're called Republican Judges , right ? )
here's the thread ...
Cindy Sheehan Researching a ch on the Prison Ind Complex for my book and I found out something I HAD NO IDEA about: According to the Left Business Observer, the federal prison industry produces 100% of all military helmets, ammunition belts, bullet-proof vests, ID tags, shirts, pants, tents, bags, and canteens.

That's why they're trying to build a prison... one big happy system of death.

And, usually, it is long-termers, especially lifers. The prison system is willing to train the people they will retain the longest in the more skilled jobs. At least that's what they told me when I used to have clients in USP Leavenworth.

The Prison Industrial Complex compliments the Military Industrial Complex quite nicely doesn't it??? Soon the prisons will be providing the necessary mercenaries to be used in Iraq and all over the Middle East...just watch and see...this way you can eliminate the need to pay soldiers all together.

the best album about this is "Cruel and Unusual
Punishment" produced by the Welfare Poets. Many
hip-hop artists contributed & it's one of the best. You
can near it at: www.noliesradio.org--tune in.

Quite a few corporations make use of prison labor, too. Good thing to remember around Valentine's Day when shopping for sexy lingerie from Victoria's Secret ;)

We have some research on prisons in our library on our website: http://pdcolorado.org/#/library/4531954743
There is a link to info on private prisons as well as the industrial prison complex. I know they make a LOT of things, but I had not heard they exclusively produced all these items for the military - I would question that claim - I'll see what I can find out

Yes, and every inmate has a Penal Bond the state floats in their name and traded on the market with their prisoner ID #. The state makes millions off of people in jail - both guilty and innocent- based on their prison labor. It does not cost the state $30,000/yr for incarceration as the return on their investment is great.

If they do manufacture any helmets, they don't do all of it....
here's the link to an article in the NY Times about Sioux Manufacturing (owned by an Indian tribe) weaving defective Kevlar for U.S military helmets (going to Iraq and Afganistan troops)http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/06/us/06helmet.html

"Over 60% of sales from Unicor are made to the U.S. Military for a range of different services from uniforms to helicopter cables and wiring used in weaponry. Because the US Military then sells some of its products overseas, items produced by prisoners may fall into the hands of violent regimes."
