You Are Invited to Attend the 2009  Óscar Romero Award Ceremony and 
Reception at the Rothko  Chapel Sunday, October 25 at 3 p. m. 
Free and Open to the Public 
Award Honors Dr. Murhabazi Namegabe for Rescuing  Child Soldiers in the 
Democratic Republic of the  Congo 
Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalist Paul Salopek  Will Speak on "Congo's 
Invisible War"       
The  Rothko Chapel will honor Dr. Murhabazi Namegabe for  his courageous 
efforts to rescue child soldiers in the  Democratic Republic of the Congo in a 
public ceremony  on Sunday, October 25 at 3 p.m. Paul Salopek, who won  a 
Pulitzer Prize for his reporting from Africa, will  be the featured speaker. 
Seating for the program is  first come, first serve. 
Immediately  following the program, the audience is invited to  enjoy wine 
and hors d'oeuvres on the plaza with Dr.  Namegabe, Paul Salopek, and the 
board of the Rothko  Chapel.  
Guided  by founder Dominique de Menil, the Rothko Chapel  established the 
award in 1986 to commemorate the life  and honor the sacrifice of Óscar 
Arnulfo Romero,  Archbishop of San Salvador. A vocal advocate for the  poor and 
oppressed in El Salvador and beyond,  Archbishop Romero was murdered by an 
assassin from the  repressive forces while he was saying Mass on March  24, 
1980. The Óscar Romero Award recognizes an  individual or organization whose 
selfless courage and  commitment to human rights have made a profound  
difference to the human race.
