Lee --

Have you ever met someone who by the strength of their moral fiber, the
inspiration of their action, or the power of their words is changing the
course of the world for the better?

On the opening night of J Street's "Giving Voice to our Values" conference
this February, you'll have a chance to hear from real heroes who are giving
voice to their values in the pursuit of lasting peace and security in the
Middle East.

We'll hear from Dr. Abuelaish who, after losing three daughters when an
Israeli artillery shell struck his Gaza home during the recent war, is
turning his unspeakable tragedy into a message of peace. [1]

We'll hear from Peter Beinart, whose argument that young American Jews are
tuning out from Israel because of the failure of conventional U.S. Jewish
organizations to allow for spirited debate on Israel policy has upended and
transformed the debate in our community. [2]

And we'll hear from organizers of the Sheikh Jarrah protests in East
Jerusalem, where young Israelis and Palestinians are coming together to
protest counterproductive Israeli actions in East Jerusalem in one of the
most vibrant and inspiring stories on the political left in Israel. [3]

This is just a taste of what you'll find at J Street's National Conference
in Washington, DC this February 26 - March 1.

Will you join me and thousands of others in Washington in two months to
honor these heroes of our movement and to give voice to your values at this
critical time?

This is no time for the faint of heart.

Negotiations have broken down in favor of more settlements and more delay,
putting hope for a two-state solution on knifes' edge.

All the while, the far right in Israel is pushing ahead with an agenda of
intolerance with extremist rabbis making rulings that Israeli Jews shouldn't
rent or sell property to Israel's Arab citizens.

But there are those who are fighting back. More than 800 rabbis -- many of
them members of J Street's Rabbinic Cabinet -- signed a letter opposing the
rabbis' ruling. [4]

And voices like Peter Beinart, Dr. Abuelaish, and organizers of the Sheikh
Jarrah protests are paving a way forward for our movement.

These voices of inspiration are giving voice to their values, providing
courage at a time when far too many of our leaders are choosing the easy way
out. Now, it's our turn.
