We have to act fast if we want to prevent the 2010 elections from becoming
a special-interest driven tragedy.
There are a number of good bills in the works to limit the damage caused
by the Roberts Court's indefensible Citizens United ruling. But there is
only one bipartisan proposal on the table right now with substantial support
in Congress that would change the rules of the game in Washington and put
voters – not corporations and unions – in charge of elections: the Fair
Elections Now Act.
Please call Rep. Al Green today and urge support for the Fair Elections
Now Act (H.R. 1826). The number is (202) 225-7508.

In last week's State of the Union address, President Obama said:
"The Supreme Court reversed a century of law that I believe will open the
floodgates for special interests, including foreign corporations, to spend
without limit in our elections ...and I urge Democrats and Republicans to
pass a bill that helps correct some of these problems."
Congress appears poised to take on this issue. Lawmakers will hold three
hearings on the court decision this week. But we can't sit back and wait for
congressional action. We must press our elected leaders to move quickly to
make sure the Fair Elections Now Act is part of any Citizens United
response package.
More than 125 Representatives are already co-sponsors of this important
bill. Can you take a moment to ask Rep. Green to join the growing chorus of
voices demanding Fair Elections? The phone number for the Capitol Hill
office is (202) 225-7508.

voices of ordinary people should not be drowned out by a tidal wave of corporate
and union spending. Please join us! And pass this message on to your
