Hi Bill,
I got through to both the DC offices and was able to leave messages for both TX senators with a live person. I don't expect either of them will do what's right for the citizens of TX but at least I asked nicely...the virtual march things was pretty cool, it let me give tons of reasons why I was participating. I hope they will do a print out of everyone who participated, these elected officials should be made to read them out loud on the senate floor, live coverage etc and then do as they are asked.

Please make a few phone calls for real health care reform. Today or tomorrow morning!
Several of you commented that we should be careful to ask our reps and Obama to support single payer universal health care, Medicare for all, not the watered-down public option that would increase the profits of the insurance industry and make us all pay for it.
I agree entirely.
Call/contact the White House:
202-456-1111 (comment line, 8AM-4PM central time, Mon-Fri.)
or use the easy form at http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact any time
I also tried calling both of our Senators's Washington offices several times today, and each time I got a recording saying they were experiencing high call volume and to try again later.
So I called their local offices in Houston and was able to leave messages there. I suggest you do that. Again, ask them to support REAL health care reform and save us all money, by EXPANDING MEDICARE to cover everyone, or some other way of specifying single payer. Even the Republicans understand how popular Medicare is.
I don't expect either Hutchison or Cornyn to support this, but if they get enough calls then perhaps they won't be quite so eager to give the insurance companies whatever they want.
Call these Houston numbers:
Hutchison: 713-653-3456
Cornyn: 713-572-3337
And if you want to try calling their Washington offices, too, try early in the morning before their lines get tied up again.
Bill
