Maybe he exaggerates a bit to make his point, although I share the
sentiment about the Pentagram wanting more money and doing anything to get
it.
In fact, Afghanistan is a very mountainous region and the mining potential
has been known ABOUT for decades. The question is whether the value
estimate is realistic or inflated. Also rather convenient that lithium
gets added to the list shortly after China decided to severely restrict
exports of a mineral that is vital to the battery industry.
What no one is talking about is that China has been mining all over
central Asia for a long time...that's the primary reason they invaded
Tibet. I noticed that the main stream views media talked about this story
by saying "...lithium, a mineral that is vital to laptops and
cellphones..." without mentioning batteries or the fact that China is now
the world's largest manufacturer of battery-electric vehicles.
I have no doubt that there are resources in Afghanistan to be exploited
but I would prefer to get paid to help the locals to create their own
mining industry than kill more American soldiers & Afghan civilians just
so some transnational corporation can colonize the place and enslave the
people like BP did in Iran and Chevron is doing in Africa.
