We need President Obama to stop all new drilling off America's coasts
mmediately and permanently. This dirty and dangerous practice has no place in a
1st century energy economy. Instead of risking our lives, our coasts, our clean
ir, and our security by perpetuating our addiction to oil, it's time to build a
lean energy economy that means more jobs, less pollution, and real energy
ndependence.
Enough is enough. Hardworking Americans should not be left to clean up after oil
nd coal companies that are raking in billions in profits.
The coal mining and oil disasters of the past few weeks should be a wake up call
nd a turning point. It's time to finally embrace the kind of clean energy
olutions that already exist and end our dependence on dirty, dangerous fossil
uels.
We urge the President to halt all proposals to allow more oil drilling off our
oasts!
The beaches, bays, and estuaries on the coast near Houston's oil industry
eadquarters may not bear the worst of this disaster's enormous environmental
mpacts. However, no community will be untouched. The world's oil company
xecutives gathering at the OTC this week, would do well to take a cue from this
atastrophe and get into the business of clean energy, the way of our future.
