[PAA-Discuss] Fwd: Appeal for support

Unfortunately, Ron and I believe it will take revolution in the street to
change this stinking system, Charlie. We've been down the road of trying to
reform the Democratic Party from the inside out. It doesn't work. It's not
going to work. The party is completely corrupt and sold out to big money
interests. Pelosi is a millionaire, Charlie. I don't think she gives a damn
about campaign finance reform.

Not voting is NOT a vote for the greater evil. Evil is evil no matter how
you look at it. Evil doesn't operate by degrees, Charlie.

Just because socialism hasn't been implemented here in the United States
doesn't mean it won't be, Charlie. We are in a major crisis here. In fact,
we have multiple crises going on. The basic problem is capitalism. The
system must be abolished and another system implemented that is equitable.

I disagree with your arguments, Charlie, but as always, I respect your
opinion and value your input.

Kris

OK let's try to summarize our options:

A. Vote for the usual lesser of evils. And bear in mind that the lesser evil
really is less evil than the greater evil - if you don't believe that wait
until the certifiably insane take charge of the asylum.

B. Vote for a third party. We need them on the ballot, even though the major
parties and the corporate media will conspire to make it hard to impossible
to gain ballot access and to get coverage for their ideas once on the
ballot. But we do need them if for no other reason than to give people a
"none of the above" option. which IMO is a much better option than just not
voting at all.

C. Combine A and B.

D. Don't vote at all. I still maintain this is a vote for the greater evil.

E. Work to reform the Democratic party from the inside. Many good people are
doing this. There is a populist caucus that often votes right - not always
but no one will always be right because we all have different ideas of what
is "right."

F. Work to change the system totally, as Kris advocates. I have very limited
confidence in that possibility. Socialism has never caught on in this
country. Eugene Debs ran for president as a socialist in 1900, 1904, 1908,
1912, and 1920, but was never a serious contender.

G. IMO, our best hope for basic change short of a revolution is to pass
campaign finance reform so we can elect people who really do represent us
and are not beholden to big money interests. The Fair Elections Now Act"
(H.R.6116) has been voted out of committee and we need to try to pressure
Pelosi to bring it up for a floor vote in the upcoming lame duck session.
Sheila Jackson Lee and Gene Green are already on board. Please give Pelosi a
call AND send her an email - it only takes a minute and it's free. The
number is (202) 225-0100 and to email her you can go to this link and fill
in the blanks: http://www.speaker.gov/contact/.

H. None of the above - and your suggestion is...???

I. It's one o'clock right now - still not too late to vote. :-)

PS I opted for C, G, and I. Hope you will too.

Charlie

George rightly says that both Democrat and Republican Party are "corporate
sponsored party"; however Bill says "There are some good Democrats running"
and he hopes that we don't "forget about them". so, how can Bill explain
this contradiction? Is he asking us to vote for the candidates who are the
stooges of a Corporate Party? A Party that is pro war, against labor,
immigrants and. - you know against all of our principles?

This is a discussion group and as Kris always asks, we should discuss
matters rather than become a Billboard ad for the Corporate. Any comments?
