"Come join the Marxist reading group every week to study classical texts in Marxist thought. Each week, we read a chapter from a book and then carry on a collective discussion about the reading. We are not affiliated with any party, organization, or club and do not wish to be. Our primary purpose is to increase our understanding of Marxism, in both realms of theory and practice. We do not have any leaders, only organizers and everything is on a purely voluntary basis. Each week, a different person volunteers to guide us through the text, in whatever way she or he desires to do so. We do not have a set meeting time and try to find a time and place that works for everyone. Everyone is welcome to attend. People from diverse political backgrounds come to our group (Marxist-Leninists, Maoists, Trotskyites, liberals, anarchists, social-democrats, etc.). We will read anything that the group wants to read, as long as it falls under the general category of Marxism. In the past, we have read works by Lenin, Althusser, Marx, Mao, Trotsky, Rosa Luxemburg, Maoist economists, Slavoj Zizek, Alain Badiou, and less well known Marxist authors. So please join us if you have time; everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of political orientation. For more information, email: marxistreadinggroup at gmail.com"
