Hey, everybody, there will be a screening of the film, The World According
to Monsanto, at the Emile St. Farm on Friday evening, October 22nd at 7 p.m.
The Emile St. Farm is located at 711 N. Emile, South on Waco off I-10 East.
As you may or may not know, Monsanto Corporation, the multinational biotech
behemoth, dominates the agriculture industry and holds the "intellectual
property" or keys and patents to much of the world's food supply with its
relentless push of genetically modified (GM) terminator seeds onto the
domestic and international agriculture markets. I think it appropriate that
we show this film at Houston's very own organic, urban farm. We must not
allow one gigantic corporation to control the world's seed supply and
ultimately, the world's food supply.
Hay bails will be available for seating. Organic greens for salad will be
available for vegans and vegetarians. For those who are meat eaters, hot
dogs will be served. We will also have a bonfire to celebrate the Hunter's
Moon which is the first full moon following the Harvest Moon in September. I
am bringing chocolate bars, marshmallows and graham crackers for those who
wish to make S'mores! I'm just a big kid, after all. :-)
I hope to see many of you at the film screening on Friday night.
Kris
