Dear Friend,
Today, the EPA announcedthat it has finalized The Mercury Rule, one of
the most important updates tothe Clean Air Act in the Act's 40 year
history.
This rule will finally putstrict limits on the amount of the potent
neurotoxin Mercury, and othertoxic air pollution, which outdated coal
burning power plants presentlypump into our air in unlimited quantities.
This is a major victory forenvironmentalists and public health advocates
and a bid defeat for bigpolluters, who fought hard to torpedo this rule.
Now, President Obama andthe EPA will be under tremendous continued
pressure to delayimplementation of the rule. But we can't wait any longer
to be protected from thisunlimited toxic pollution.
Thank President Obama andEPA Administrator Lisa Jackson for finalizing
this rule, and urge them tostrongly implement it without delay:
