Dear Truthout and BuzzFlash  Readers,

Over the past two years,  we've watched a Democratic president all too 
willing to fall into  Republican traps, lose daily messaging battles and sign 
legislation that  is blatantly unfair. President Obama has been  able to play 
it safe and go along with the powerful corporate players in  Washington 
because there hasn't been a unified progressive movement  pushing him.

During the health care debacle,  Obama paraphrased President Franklin D. 
Roosevelt. In a meeting with  activists who sought bold legislation to cure a 
depressed economy,  Roosevelt famously said, "You've convinced me. Now go 
out and make me  do it." 

The health care debate did not include  a strong anti-plutocracy 
mobilization which could demand fair treatment  for young, poor and working Americans.

Now, that  movement has emerged. We’re seeing it in the streets of 
Wisconsin and on  the Action page of the _US Uncut movement_

seeing it in the eyes of the students and public employees who are  standing 
against the destruction of their right to organize - a right  they’ve held 
dear for more than 50 years.

Truthout will be  here and be a part of this growing force, but we must 
keep our budget  funded.
