Jessica,

You are the most honest person I’ve ever had to argue with on KPFT issues. Honesty is the best contribution. I’m sorry if I was not clear enough to let you know that if “you don’t know” that doesn’t mean you are right.

Please forgive me. I appreciate your time and energy to promote KPFT. I remember you from the last year IFEST event at KPFT booth. Keep up the good work. I remember that you were very active and enthusiastic at that event.

I have never considered you a "Bill O'Reilly"...  I didn't say YOU were "Bill O'Reilly"...   I was only referring to his style of interviewing guests to his show.   I did not, and have never, and will not put you and Bill O'Reilly in the same sentence for any reason ever again.    Them's fighting words... I don't do fighting words so well...  

SO!  You've discovered the truth about our educational system here:   I have a limited amount of information about demographics in other parts of the world, hence I stick to alternative news... How do you expect me to hear about other cultures from the mainstream media?  There's an apartheid going on in our own back yard, and Latinos are being deported by the bus and plane loads, and I hear nothing about that either.    It's not for lack of trying to educate myself....  that's for sure.

I only know what I've heard recently, or read recently.  And there's little communication about the Ethiopians, or other people of color, including my own,  from those parts of the world, until there's a conflict.

Massoud, are there Hispanics in Israel, too?  Maybe you could take the reins of this show and make it into what it needs to be?

I'm sorry, too, Massoud, that you have also decided to belittle me.  I guess I am useless, in your opinion, because of my lack of knowledge of subjects related to this subject.  If you are going to insult and belittle folks, so be it.   I already make fun of myself and my own shortcomings.  So, if you've got something to say, get in line.  I'm sure you won't be the first, and you sure won't be the last to criticize me..    

There is no way to work with someone who is always ready to battle.  Always ready for a fight.    Excuse me while I retreat.  I thought this was a mature and constructive discussion. I had no idea you were "taking prisoners".     

And, yes, I am the Co-Chair for the Outreach Committee: our main mission is fund raising.  There is no geography or world knowledge test for this position.   Now I am unqualified for this co-chair position???  Dang it!

I am truly, truly, mostly sorry that I didn't do enough research on my own,  of the Ethiopians, or "Black People" in other parts of the world first hand.  It's kinda hard to study, and work and volunteer all at the same time.   I was hoping I'd learn more about this subject here on KPFT.  Apparently, it must be approved by a group of people, including yourself, first, and when you give us permission, finally this dialog can continue, and then grow, and eventually be what we need.    Now, I understand the protocol.  

In the mean time, there are still plenty of opportunities to volunteer to work at some of our upcoming KPFT and PNB events, such as the Cajun Fest,  R. Zimmerman show,  St. Pat's parade... as well as the Cesar Chavez parade...      

I've got plenty to do while we stand and point fingers at each other.  Well, I'm pulling my finger out of the conflict.... I hate wars...

Well this is very typical of you. First you apologize for ”jumping here” and then you accusing me of being “Bill O’Reilly”!  Good job for someone who believes in “non-violent communication” , and I really don’t want to know what the “violent communication” looks like in your book, since these are two contradictory subjects!! 

I’m glad that you expressed yourself. That proves my point that why KPFT should be a conscious radio. What do you know about Ethiopian in Israel? What do you know about discrimination against Black people in Israel? What do you know about some of the 100.000 Ethiopians in Israel that are chanting “We want equality, we’re all Jewish”? 

From your e-mail I’m sure you are not aware of that and your Program Director is not trying to educate you either. He is deceiving you, He could have that interview with the basketball player and ask by the way “is it true that the Ethiopians in Israel being treated as the second citizen?” Just a simple question you know, he is the KPFT program Director after all.

So, be honest with yourself, if you didn’t know that there are Black people in Israel, then you have to research a little more before you “jump in”.

Thanks, Massoud.  (Sorry to jump in here.... but you know, I gotta give a cent or two..)

We all know it's a propaganda show.   Isn't that ok at this station where we think for ourselves?   It's still non-violent communication.  

I can't jump up and be upset.  I'm sorry to disagree with all the anger and emotion, but I will add this:  it served it's purpose, for me, at least.

Forgive my ignorance, but I had NO CLUE there was a "black" profile in Israel, let alone that they support basketball in their Army. (I say down with the military anyway, but sports is a reasonable replacement for war, at times...)

They don't tell you about the demographics of any of these war-torn areas in school, or on any news report coming from the area.  It's all war footage.  How would I know there is anyone there that identifies themselves as a person of African descent...?  There's nothing about that when I look at the news regarding Palestine or Israel.  

However elementary, or "insulting", this WAS educational for me.  I hope no one minds that I learned another thing or two.

By the way, if we don't start a dialogue about something, how will we get to the tough questions later?

As I've learned, when I want to question someone, ANYONE...  my husband, for example,  about something he's done 

that I consider unjust, or wrong,  the better way to handle it is NOT to jump on him the minute he hits the front door.   It takes time, and we have to come up with a strategy.  You must start the dialogue somewhere....

I'm with Bill... we can produce a question and answer call in session with the immense talent we have in house.  Without anyone having to go all "Bill O'Reilly"  and start telling the host to shut up... etc..

Oh really Melinda, is that so, just a disagreement?… first of all that was the “Voice of Peace” show; and if you remember that was the Israeli Consulate show. So, Ernesto (The KPFT PD) produced a show for the Israeli Consulate. Second of all, at any moment you can find an Egyptian today. who would praise the ex-President Mubarak and tell you how wonderful Egypt was under his regime.  Then you would say well that’s an opinion and some might disagree with it (like you live in Mars or out of space). But if you live here on earth and follow the reality, then you would realize that show was a PROPAGANDA Show. Is this really that hard for you to comprehend?

*Can you answer this question that on our web site we didn’t mention the “Voice of Peace” and simply said “to be announced”, like we don’t know what will be on at that time. And this morning Duane on his show first said there will be an Open Journal on the Black History month and the second time he didn’t even mentioned the name of the show? Don’t defend something that you don’t have all the information my friend. You are not responsible for everything that goes on KPFT. Sometime you need to listen and not rush to be an apologizer.

Right now at 9:30 am Open Journal – Wed. Feb. 23, Ernesto is hosting the “Voice of Peace” the State of Israel propaganda show on KPFT, interviewing a black man (Basketball player) who has served in the Israeli Army. This show according to Ernesto (KPFT PD) is in light of “Black History Month”. What an insult to African American! What an insult to Palestinians, What an insult to KPFT and Pacifica.
