[PAA-Discuss] shoot the teachers

I don't think people are ready for it yet. If there is enough pain to go around -- and not just among the poor -- people
might forget about tit for tat and if money doesn't count, the poorer people might actually have better things to barter.
Something made from scratch may cost less in worthless paper, but has greater intrinsic value.
We need to learn to change the value we give to things. Maybe you would be willing to give a bag of tomatoes for the priviledge of sitting in the shade of a tree, if a shade tree is all the person has and you need refuge from the sun. We need to unfocus from a banksters economy to an economy that works for people. Can't give the course in a few paragraphs, sorry
Anne

Anne, that would tend to make the schools even more unequal in the type of programs etc. they have. If the parents are poor, there won't be as high quality or as great a quantity of goods and services to draw from. We saw this difference in having children in Poe, the Rice U. area school which had a carnival-type fundraiser each year for the school -- once helped them by some water fountains -- and having them in MacGregor Elementary, in a poorer section of town. At Poe you were given a recipe for spaghetti with meat sauce to bring to the school to sell. At MacGregor, you would never have dared to do that and when you wanted parents to come for the PTO meeting you had to have every child in the school on the program. Most if not all of the parents at MacGregor worked while a number of those at Poe (the moms) did not and had some time on their hands to attend things and help organize things like the carnival. Lee

Barter is the only way to avoid the stupidity of these yokels. Teachers make a list of what they need and want each month and the parents come up with the stuff. They have a month's time to barter for what they sign up to give and don't have, be it services or goods. Teachers need dentists, dentists may have kids in their classes. We need to become totally independent of the monetary system. We will be living right as soon as we are happy to give the government machine its worthless paper back in the form of taxes. We have to remember that it is we who give that paper its value. As soon as we stop believing in it, it will no longer have power over us.

Look at what Texas is doing to "save" money...( Google : Texas House Bill 400), worth the read, especially the teachers comments
