This video is about 1 hour and 18 minutes long but well worth a listen. Noam
Chomsky talks about the need for anarchism in the United States. Anarchism
is referred to in Norway as Libertarian Socialism which does not resemble
Libertarianism in the United States. At about 40:19 Chomsky discusses Ron
Paul and Libertarianism. At 47:16 he talks about Parecon (Participatory
Economics) and his disagreement with Parecon that under anarchism people
would not work because they would not want to. Chomsky believes people want
to do creative work that is under their control. He also differs from
Parecon in that Parecon believes remuneration or pay for one's labor should
be contingent upon the amount of effort one puts into the work and the type
of work one does. AT 58:43 Chomsky talks about corporate "personhood" and at
1 hour and about 5 minutes, he takes questions from the audience.

 

Please listen very carefully to what Noam Chomsky has to say and comment. I
happen to agree wholeheartedly with Chomsky and his ideas of how to go about
creating direct democracy and an anarchistic society.

 

While I support the Occupy Movements all over the United States, we are
going to have to get out of the parks and put the placards down and go about
creating the type of society we wish to live in. Take your money out of the
big banks and put it into credit unions. Pay off your credit cards. These
are two things people can do NOW under this capitalist system to hit these
financial behemoths where it hurts the most. Get involved with the
Transition Movements in Houston and all over the United States. These
movements focus on learning new sustainable ways of doing things in a vastly
changing world. If we want to change our system, we must go about doing it
and we must either go over the powers that be, go through them or go around
them.

 

There is no savior among the political parties. We must be the change.
