<P><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">VICTORIA</SPAN></FONT>, TX -- Shane Sklar, Democratic candidate for Congress in Texas' 14th district, issued the following statement on the unfolding events in the Middle East, and today's response by the House of Representatives:</P>
<P><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">"In this time of uncertainty, I think it is important as a candidate for the United States Congress to let people know that I intend to stand with our friends in Israel.</SPAN></FONT></P>
<P><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">Israel</SPAN></FONT> is sovereign nation with my unwavering support and the support of the American people. Israel is at the front lines of the war on terror, and has every right to defend herself against organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah.</P>
<P><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">Americans must continue their leadership in the war on terror and make it clear to the world that we will not tolerate terrorists or any country whose leaders provide aid to terrorists. They will be brought to justice and punished.</SPAN></FONT></P>
<P><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">My opponent believes that our national security interests stop at our borders. His vote today against a House resolution in support of Israel -- just 1 of 8 <A href="http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2006/roll391.xml">votes</A> (and the only Republican vote) against that statement of support -- demonstrates again that his Libertarian philosophy has been him out of touch with this district and with the realities of keeping Americans safe in a post-9/11 world."</SPAN></FONT></P>

<P><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">As you can see above, Shane Sklar supports the “right” of Israel to defend herself against “terrorists” like Hamas and Hezbollah. He fails to see that Israel is a state that harbors terrorists. Israeli military acted in a terrorist fashion when it bombed Lebanon and the Israeli IDF continues to act in a terrorist fashion by killing Palestinians. I’m sick and tired of hearing about this whole homeland security crap. It sounds like something right out of Nazi Germany. I don’t like the “homeland” mindset. It reminds me of the fatherland crap that Hitler spouted all the time. Obviously, Sklar has bought the ruse that Israel is some sort of ally to the United States. This is patently untrue. The U.S. government props up the Israeli military with weapons manufactured over here. AIPAC tells the legislators in Congress what to
do on issues involving Israel and national security. Sklar needs to wake up and smell the coffee on this issue.</SPAN></FONT></P>
