We know the impact we have on the earth, yet we continue to trash it. We know so much more scientifically, yet we still believe in "miracles" and continue to put our faith and our future into the hands of preachers, priests, clerics, etc.,</FONT><FONT color=#8000ff> charlatans that only use people's insecurities to profit from. </FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT color=#8000ff>Time after time we see these religious people in <U>all</U> religions at work. They are lying, cheating, hurting children, killing,and starting wars, using ALL people, while telling their followers how to live a better life, <STRONG>and oh by the way please drop your cash in the collection plate</STRONG>. No matter that we have been in space, people still look to the heavens for salvation. Still believe you can live a horrible life, repent and be accepted into that wonderful world after you die.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT color=#8000ff>It just goes to show what strong appeal everlasting life has for human beings. Just tell a man that if he does your bidding, he will be blessed with sweet everlasting life, and he will be your everlasting servant. </DIV>

Be sure to condemn them for all their natural biological urges and instincts too! That way they will be damn sure to believe they are unworthy of rewards by God while on earth. So does the fact that most religions will tell you, you can be the biggest asshole that ever lived, but if you repent in the last moments of your life and truly feel sorry for it, you will still be rewarded. For thousands of years, the stories haven't changed much, no one has ever seen God, Buddha, Allah, Satan, Lucifer, the devil or any of their little helpmates, angels and imps, in all these thousands of years, yet people are still POSITIVE they are real and everything will be all right if you just kiss the hem of the Pope's robe, vote Republican, or flagellate yourself in the name of Allah. </DIV>

I wonder which basics they are talking about? The basics of the fifties where everyone lied about their lives and pretended to be June and Ward Cleaver? Back then we had no gay people, or child molesters. We had no spousal abuse (no such thing). No terrorists either. Right?</DIV>

A number of schools of Buddhism are humanistic; in part this stems from a strong nondualistic approach to the relationship between creator and creation. However this is not secular humanism. It seems to me that secular humanism simply does not even address the issue of the existence of God. The Christian right fascists are attempting to take over U.S. government in order to “return America to its Christian roots.” They believe the U.S. of A. is a Christian nation and that secular humanists, gays and others have ruined it and caused all sorts of catastrophes in the way of hurricanes, tornadoes, the 9-11 attack etc. These people are nut bars from the word go. They are completely deluded. You cannot rationalize with these fools.</SPAN></FONT></DIV>

I believe the indoctrination of a large segment of the population into believing in a god or higher power or deity or invisible cloud being or whatever name you want to attach to it is the biggest ruse ever pulled on mankind. I believe that organized religion promotes group think and an utter lack of critical thinking skills. It promotes believing in something with no scientific proof of existence whatsoever. Christian fundamentalism, Islamic fundamentalism and any other kind of fundamentalist belief is close minded, intolerant and extraordinarily dangerous, in my opinion, and has directly resulted in the deaths of millions of people over the course of history.</SPAN></FONT></DIV>
