the Chicago police force supposedly discussed a better way to have layers of
control, or something like that. I agree that Daly told them to corral the
protesters, but they evidently went quite a bit further than he thought they
would. I still remember tv footage of women in high heels being pushed
vigorously with batons as they dutifully were trying to step up into a police
paddy wagon. I though sure the US public would be enraged, but my mother-in-law
who was watching said, "Well, those people are somewhere they shouldn't be."

necessarily true of all cases. After the clashes of the 1968 Democratic Party

name!) was made which declared that it was a police riot because there were no
leaders, no one in charge. Wish I could remember the name of this report, which
