Agreed, agreed. A bit of history is lost on that unless you really search out the proper resources. Some of us cared so much about what was going on in Central America that we went to live there, as in my case and in the case of many friends of mine. Many began protesting the work of the School of the Americas, and fought hard to end funding of the Contras in Nicaragua. There was so much to fight in the Reagan era--frankly, it was difficult to choose one arena. The Central American incursions?? James Watt and the EPA? "Star Wars" --and I don't mean the movie. Reagan's coded language on "states' rights" while giving speeches in the south--wink, wink?

It was a terrible era. It paved the way for the neocons who have tried to destroy our nation and our world. But there were many, many activists out there working on issues, just as we are now.

Alyssa Burgin

they are forgotten! Sickens me a bit and frustrates me very much. Some of the

fighting interventions we were trying to stop the development of nuclear weapons

Why in the world did you stop then? Did Reagan really do it for
you? Why did we suddenly forget everything when the 80's rolled
around? How in the world did people sit by during the Iran-Contra
deal? Reagan and Bush should have been impeached for that.

Now we're sitting here in an e-mail conversation debating non-issues
like Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich, News Flash: This war has further
fomented hate for the government, thus people are turning away from BIG
government. We can sit here and stroke ego's all day long but you're not
going sway Ron Paul supporters who want to get rid of the IRS by not giving more
information about why the IRS should be left alone. There isn't any FYI,
the IRS is not needed and continuing to tax labor (which should be a HUGE GREEN
PARTY ISSUE... and fortunately for some it is...) is not an argument that you're
going to win. This is why the Green Party fails and continues to fail,
