Sorry Alyssa, you sent this directly to me, I think you meant to send it to the PAA. Yea and, at least he only said he was for killing another million people instead of "being in Iraq for a hundred year." At least!, Phew, so glad I can sleep rest assured tonight knowing we're only going to be killing anther 5 mil.
a helluva lot of elections in my lifetime. I no longer hope for the
possibility of getting exactly what I want, I've seen too much in the
way of mediocrity and illusion. I don't think our country has a lot of
time left to be slogging through any more generations of conservative
wingnuts. Obama is not a conservative wingnut. He's also not the first

he can make change in this country? Yes, I do.

Please, stress your age one more time, clearly the American society has decided that as you age you can be ok without absolute BS.

P.s. I love how your stance changed from being against Ron Paul's stance of NO AGGRESSIVE wars to be ok with Obama's. I need to dig that e-mail up so I can revel in the level of hypocrisy sent to the PAA list in the last 6 months.
At least he didn't say we'd be in Iraq for a hundred years.

That's not an endorsement, per se, just a statement of fact. I think when you're dealing with candidates, presidential or otherwise, you have to think about their ability to perceive what's going on . What's really going on. I think McCain is so blinded by the military background of his--three generations--that he could never perceive anything outside of that bubble. Obama is another matter. There's room in his brain for alternative opinions on things he may not have made up his mind on yet.

No candidate governs as he has set himself out to be. In many cases, that's a bad thing. They often govern to the right. However, I've seen a couple of legislators who governed to the left, and I think that in this left-fearing electorate, there's room for a presidential candidate to govern to the left. At least when he's one who is smart enough to see left positions.

As a young man, as a college and law student, Obama was far left of how he is presenting himself now. I know that from people who know him personally. I don't think that someone who is as left as I am is going to get elected from this electorate. Period. That's why I'm hoping that someone who presents a more moderate exterior to the electorate can welcome left opinions once he is in office, entertain left philosophy, and vote left.

At the very least, he can influence the Supreme Court for decades. At the best, he can change America for the better (that wouldn't be hard).

I just turned fifty, Jessica.
Part of my objection to this ridiculous conversation by McCain is that "al qaeda in Iraq" belongs in quotation marks. There is an Al-Qaeda in Iraq in the same way that everything that looks like a facial tissue is called a Kleenex--and it all hopes you'll identify it as a Kleenex. Except in this case, the propaganda arm of an entire government (ours) wants you to identify it as a Kleenex too, 'cause there's something in it for them.

The longer we stay in Iraq, the more fuel (bad pun) we give so-called insurgents for their struggle. McCain is either dumb as a stick or he refuses to see that.

Alyssa Burgin

McCain is a moron, I think we can all agree on that.

Yep, so "striking" al qaeda and continuing to bomb people is definitely not pro-war, nope and I live in the 1984 world that Orwell described, so well. You DOT NO GO INTO A VILLAGE AND SET A FIRE EVER! THAT SOLVES NOTHING! Where are all of the people who understand this? Have you ever been into a neighborhood, home to a gang or 5??? Yes, there are some people in the neighborhood that are bad, but you do not BOMB AND ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD because there are a handful of "bad" people, who are only BAD AND "TERRORISTS" (ahahah what a word) BECAUSE THEY'RE FUCKING PISSED OFF BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN STEALING THEIR RESOURCES FOR OVER 100 YEARS! Oh wow, again, I'm living in an alternate dimension.
