<div dir="ltr">That was a good summary, Kris.<br><br>Sorry to be so late replying... yeah, I think the numbers were within the ranges of previous estimates. (30-40 at first, 50-60 by the end) People were pretty spread out -- there was room for 2-3 times that many.<br>
<br>Allow me to add a few little items that your summary made me remember (not corrections, just embellishments).<br><br>When Ralph mentioned the undermining of parental authority, TV came up I think. As to why parents spend less time with their children, he listed longer commute time and having to work job-and-a-half to make ends meet (or to satisfy consumer imperative).<br>
<br>Paranthetically, I must say that when he talked about Populist Movement starting in Texas in 1887, I went off into a little memory of my speech-making when I was getting ready to run for Texas Railroad Commissioner. That's how the commission got started: farmers' revolt against big business monopolies.<br>
<br>When he got into the Israel/Palestine issue, he asked us to ask other Americans to think about what WE would do if occupied by foreign troops.<br><br>And finally, when he said that jobs need to be created in communities in the U.S., he specified some types of jobs that can't be outsourced: roadbuilding, windfarm construction and maintenance, I think he said. I'm recommending to kids that they think of trades (plumber, welder, electrician), and medical (nurses, EMT), and so forth.<br>
